Pre-Season Training starts Tuesday November 25, at 6.15pm at Stuart Park, North Wollongong. |
Thats it for 2008. See you in 2009!! Trevor Burnett appointed Senior Coach for 2009
The Wollongong Lions are pleased to announce the appointment of Trevor
Burnett as Senior Coach for 2009. The appointment comes after Jason
Philp was recently forced to step down from the role after accepting
an employment opportunity in Perth. The players and staff at the Lions
wish to pass on their sincere thanks to Jason for his efforts in 2008
and wish him all the best in Western Australia. The club is thrilled to be able to bring someone of the calibre of
Burnett on board, especially at
this late stage of pre-season planning.
The move sees Burnett return to the club where his Sydney AFL career
started way back in 1987. Burnett's playing record speaks for itself
and includes 3 premierships at Campbelltown, a Phelan medal and 3 Snow
Medals. Burnett missed the Lions 1st Division premiership in 2004
through injury.
Burnett has coached the NSW All Schools U15 side for the past 3 years,
but having harboured an ambition to coach at club level the timing is
now right for him to reunite with the Lions.
The Lions wish to advise all players that training for the 2009 season
will commence on Tuesday November 25, at 6.15pm at Stuart Park, North
Wollongong. The 2008 Annual General meeting and Christmas Party will
be held at 1pm on Sunday November 30 at the Illawarra Master Builders Club.
